AI Powered 3D Printed Hydroelectric Dam to be Built in Tibet

AI Powered 3D Printed Hydroelectric Dam to be Built in Tibet
Chinese scientists are planning to build a hydroelectric plant on the Yangqu dam, according to reports, using unmanned excavators and equipment controlled by artificial intelligence and using the same additive manufacturing process of 3D printing.

Completion of the 180 metre structure to be built on the Yellow River is expected in 2024 with an anticipated output of nearly 5 billion kilowatt hours of electricity per year provided to the surrounding areas.

Scientists involved in the project are reported to say that 3D printing technology has matured enough for a project of this size with a large, filled infrastructure. Information on the technology and equipment to be used has yet to be made public. For further information see the IDTechEx report on 3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing 2020-2030: COVID Edition.
