Designer Rochus Jacob was looking for a way to generate energy through common activities which resulted in an energy harvesting rocking chair which allows the user to produce electricity whilst rocking on the chair.

Electricity created through kinetic energy from the rocking motion of the chair and using advanced nano-dynamo technology built in to the skids of the chair, powers the chair's attached OLED light source. The OLED light source is shaped like a traditional lampshade and energy created by rocking in the chair during the daytime is stored in a battery pack until nightfall.
The chair is named "The Murakami chair" and won joint first prize at the DesignBoom Green Life Competition.
