In 2025, direct air capture is expected to reach the megatonne per annum scale for the first time ever, with the completion of 1PointFive's Stratos facility. According to the new IDTechEx report, "Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) 2025-2035: Technologies, Players, Carbon Credit Markets, and Forecasts", carbon credit market revenue from the sale of durable, engineered removals will exceed US$14 billion in 2035, with direct air capture becoming a leading technology.
There are over 100 companies developing technologies for direct air capture. With the industry targeting an ambitious capture cost of US$100/tonne of CO2, this IDTechEx webinar explores how costs are being reduced - including technology innovations, growing supply chains, and alternative regeneration methods (including electrochemical methods). The webinar will reveal insight into the DAC space, and its content includes:
- Status of direct air capture and leading players
- Key strategies for reducing capture costs for direct air capture
- Contextualizing direct air capture within voluntary carbon credit markets and the wider carbon dioxide removal space
