Webinar: Ammonia: Emerging Production Technologies and Applications
Presenter: Thomas Bithell, Technology Analyst, IDTechEx
Date: Thursday July 16 2026
Ammonia is the second most produced chemical globally, with production accounting for roughly 2% of global energy usage and over 1% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Conventional 'grey' production is tied to natural gas, which is used as both a hydrogen feedstock and an energy source. As a result, grey ammonia is tied to volatile fossil fuel prices and geopolitical instability, as has been seen along the Strait of Hormuz. It is possible to produce ammonia from only water, air, and renewable energy, resulting not only in the decarbonization of ammonia production, but also in the enabling of new ammonia applications as a clean energy source. There is increasing interest in uses of low-carbon ammonia such as power generation, marine fuel, and as a hydrogen carrier.
In this webinar, IDTechEx Technology Analyst Thomas Bithell will draw on research from the new IDTechEx market report "Ammonia Market 2026-2036: Technologies, Forecasts, Players to cover:
· An introduction to ammonia and the ammonia market
· Green ammonia and other low-carbon ammonia production methods.
· Drivers for low-carbon ammonia production and applications.
· Insight into IDTechEx forecasts for ammonia production.
· Trends and current commercial status of emerging ammonia applications.
Choose your preferred time zone - the webinar runs three times during the day.
