Carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) refers to a set of technologies that gather carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions either directly from the point sources of emissions or the ambient air before utilizing the carbon dioxide in new applications or permanently storing it underground. According to the new IDTechEx report "Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) Markets 2025-2045: Technologies, Market Forecasts, and Players", although high costs, high energy demands, and lack of carbon dioxide transportation and storage infrastructure have hindered the deployment of mature CCUS technologies, previously inaccessible business models and emerging capture technologies will accelerate large-scale project development in the CCUS space.
This webinar will explore the CCUS business model, including methods of profiting from CCUS even within the current regulatory landscape, and how carbon markets are set to shape the future of CCUS. Analysis will include how the advent of partial chain CO2 capture, transportation, and storage service providers, alongside the development of CCUS hubs and clusters will increase CCUS deployment. Finally, an appropriate selection of carbon capture technologies will be discussed, assessing key emerging point-source capture approaches.
This webinar will reveal insights into the CCUS space, and its content includes:
- Exploration of profitable CCUS business models past (coupled with enhanced oil recovery), present (heavily government subsidized), and future (carbon pricing and emerging utilization)
- Discussion of how segmentation of the CCUS value chain will accelerate technology deployment
- Identification of incumbent and emerging point source capture technologies and determining under which conditions a specific technology is superior
- Contextualization of CCUS within global decarbonization progress and reaching net-zero by 2050 targets
