At the NFC World Forum in Nice France this week, Dr Ji-Man Park, Principal Researcher ETRI Korea described how he has developed a sensor card for temperature that has no battery because it relies on energy harvesting. The air interface is ISO 15693 which is longer range that Near Field Communication NFC but is compatible and commonly used with it. Potential sales may be in the tens of millions in our opinion and just possibly hundreds of millions. The enclosed slides explain more.
